Het Pand - Ghent

Ghent

Ghent is a great city to visit. The French president François Mitterand had already labelled the town the best kept secret in Europe in 1984. The Lonely Planet included Ghent in the top 10 list of must-see cities.

They wrote: 'Here’s a secret within a secret: Ghent might just be the best European city you’ve never thought of visiting, in a country that continues to be criminally overlooked. Ghent hides away in the middle of Belgium’s big three – Brussels, Bruges and Antwerp.'

Het Pand - Break out Sessions

Het Pand is the culture and congress center of Ghent University. Het Pand is a historical monument: this unique building is a former Dominican Monastry, situated beside the river Leie in the historic center of the city of Ghent.

Het Pand is located next to the St Michiels Church, within walking distance from the hotels. The short walk to the congress venue will give the participants a general impression of Ghent’s architectural splendour (St Bavo’s Cathedral, St Nicholas’ Church, Town Hall, Castle of the Counts).

UFO - Plenary Sessions

The plenary sessions of ESSSB17 will take place at the UFO. The largest auditorium of Ghent is located in this building; >1000 persons.
